Gilbert Arenas is an all star point guard for the
The story Arenas was originally telling the media that the situation never occurred, but the more and more each day the story grew. After every game before halftime of the Wizard’s game media wasn’t asking about stats and game plan they were bombarding the players with array of questions about the gun in the locker room. Each player dumb found not answering the questions completely and the Wizards forward Jamison just start talking over the reporters. When it was time to interview Gilbert he smiled and laughed at the cameras and joked with the reporters giving them the blow you off treatment like he was a NBA star and nothing was gone happen to him. Since he wasn’t immediately suspended like everyone thought he would his comments became cockier and more frequent. But he finally took it to far while at a home game him and his teammates decided to entertain the crowd by them standing in a line and letting Gilbert pretended to wave and shoot ah fake gun at his team, and what made them think that was funny or appropriate I have no clue. Many teams practice pre game rituals Lebron and his crowd throw dust in the air and his teammates line up and he pretends to snap photos of them, but the pretend Wizards’ shootout with Gil starring as Wyatt Earp way out of hand. The pre game shootout brought so much attention that David Stern had to suspend him indefinitely after the slap in the face.
I didn’t agree with the suspension being needed while the Washington Police done their investigation, but after I seen the fake shootout I couldn’t believe that athletes could actually be that dumb for real or even feel that they can’t be touched like ball players during the 90’s. Gilbert Arenas actions could have possibly end his all-star career after already receiving top point guard pay in the NBA. I don’t like the fact that all the athletes get punished more publicly and since society has this god complex for our athletes these days when its time to pass sentence they get made an example out of. Yes Gilbert has shown poor judgment multiply times through out this and it is no way else to cover up his poor judgment. If I was Gilbert I would have never pulled my gun on a teammate his status as a franchise player could have got the teammate he had problem with traded and he had all to loose while the other guy is some player that has been passed around the league.
All professional athletes need to start making better judgment not because they are role models, which they shouldn’t be looked at as, but because they are constantly under the microscope. Being on the front page news and everybody’s top story is not good especially if it’s not for breaking a record. Gilbert Arenas now has to serve a minimum of six months and might have to void his three years $110 million contract he 1 year into I don’t feel sorry for him I feel bad that I guy can make that much money and still have no common sense.
